GHG Protocol Calculation Toolset in the agriculture and livestock sectors
The GHG Protocol for Agriculture aims at addressing key challenges to establish a sustainable landscapes management approach that will allow Brazil to continue to develop its agricultural sector and yet reduce its impact on ecosystems and climate.
The main objective of the project is to support cattle ranching sector in the Amazon to increase productivity thru low carbon techniques, which could reduce deforestation rates (and consequently on GHG emissions) and move to a low carbon economy through GHG emissions accounting and implementation of the ABC Plan related policies. More specifically, the project aims at engaging and building capacity of agro-industry firms and their beef supply chain in the use of GHG accounting and emissions reduction and promoting the debate about MRV in the agriculture sector amongst civil society, government and the private sector.
